David Fincher's following up the Oscar-winning The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with a curious tale of a completely different sort. According to Variety, Fincher is close to signing on to direct The Social Network for Columbia Pictures.Aaron Sorkin (Charlie Wilson's War) wrote the script which follows the evolution of the social media phenomenon, Facebook. Sorkin's screenplay traces Harvard sophomore Mark Zuckerberg's creation of Facebook in 2004 and its evolution into one of the internet's most popular sites. If the deal goes through, Columbia's looking to get The Social Network rolling later this year.
